Vi For Smarties

Quiz Two, Answer Three

Edit your .exrc in your home directory and make sure that it contains the following two lines:

set wm=8

ab dnas deoxyribonucleic acid strands

Note that there are no preceding colons before the commands in the .exrc file. wm stands for wrapmargin, and is the number of columns you want to leave blank on the right-hand margin. So, on a standard 80 column display, telling vi to leave 8 columns blank on the right margin causes all text beyond column 72 to be "wrapped". Now, when you return from the restroom and restart your vi editing session, both your margin setting and your macro will already be in effect.

If you didn't know this answer, you should stop taking this quiz and return to Lesson Three and Lesson Seven.
